Heritage Christian Academy is accredited by the South Carolina Independent School Association. The school was initially accredited in 2001, and recently re-accredited in 2005. We have also been members of the Educational Records Bureau since 1996. This organization provides our standardized testing battery (the CTP 4) which is the only standardized achievement test designed specifically for high-achieving schools and schools wishing to set high standards. Developed for ERB by Educational Testing Service, CTP 4 provides useful instructional information to administrators and teachers for students up to and including the highest achievement levels.
At Heritage Christian Academy, we believe that each child has been uniquely gifted by God with specific abilities, some of which are in areas outside the classroom. For that reason, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities (primarily for middle school) including: Basketball, tennis, cheerleading, running club, drama club, chess club, newspaper, student council, math team, academic team, guitar lessons, etc.
Students at Heritage wear uniforms that differ depending on the age of the student. Specifics about the uniforms and where to buy them are included with the registration packet once a student is enrolled.
We do not have a full-service kitchen on campus. However, students in Class 3 and up may purchase hot lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. A menu of lunch selections is sent home at the beginning of each month, and students can choose and pay for the meals they want. Parent volunteers pick up the meals from local restaurants and serve them in our cafeteria. All students bring their own lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Many vital functions of life at Heritage Christian Academy are dependant on the efforts of parent volunteers. We have many opportunities for parents to be involved in the school in areas ranging from assisting with carpool, serving hot lunches, acting as a class parent, or helping to coordinate Grandparents' Day or Fine Arts Day. A list of volunteer opportunities will be made available in the registration packet and at Parent Night before the start of school.
Students in Kindergarten attend school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:10 to 12:00, and the Enrichment class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:10 to 2:35. Students in Classes 1 and 2 have noon dismissal every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and are dismissed at 2:35 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students in Classes 3-8 attend from 8:10 to 2:35, Monday through Friday.
